Welcome to the website for our brand-new swimming club for para, disability and family swimming.
Our aim to bring the experience of a high level of inclusivity within our swimming groups to allow individuals regardless of any impairments, to reach their swimming potential. We have a strong team of coaching and teaching staff, backed up with a team of helpers and volunteers, to enable our objectives to be achieved.
History
In 2016, The West Midlands Disability Squad merged with Orion Swimming Club, and we became the Orange Squad, due to our kit colour.
Our success grew and grew and our membership increased to the stage where we developed such a strong reputation within West Midlands, that the squad needed to evolve further and expand.
In March 2020, Birmingham Marlins was born. with its own constitution and run by its own committee, with a large membership that is constantly expanding.

M.A.R.L.I.N.S - Multi abilities reach long-lasting inclusive swimming
MARLIN – fastest in the sea and so can you be.
Marlins are fish that swim very quickly. They also have a very long pointed nose. Obviously, being a fish, marlins have no hands, so they use their long pointed nose to work the TV remote control - and just like the Marlin, many of our swimmers have to adapt and use innovative methods to achieve what they set out to achieve.
About us
We are committed to inspiring the next generation of swimmers to participate in sport and to help them realise their aspiration and potential.
Birmingham Marlins has a strong timetable to allow swimmers from across the local regions to train together. We have swimmers who compete successfully at regional, national and international para competitions with some of our members winning medals and holding British records.
We offer a learn to swim programme tailored to individual needs, with one to one support available.
We have an active management, committee and coaching team, which helps to make this success possible.
Family Swimming
We are offering families the opportunity to swim within Birmingham Marlins. Although we are predominately para and disability swimming, we have a family mainstream option, to allow siblings and parents to swim within the same club. Mainstream swimmers are inclusive within the above groups and will be swimming alongside others who may have an impairment. Mainstream swimmers will be placed into groups in line with their swimming ability. In other words, siblings may not be placed within the same groups.
Please note, we do not offer mainstream competitive swimming. If a mainstream swimmer has progressed from learn to swim (or any other group) and wishes to compete, they will be signposted to their nearest local competitive swimming club, where they can dual -register.
We only offer para and disability competitive swimming.
